Safeguarding Resources

JAMES is a simple story to help children be safe from Child Sexual Abuse. The story explains the difference between a secret and a surprise. Since most predators get children to keep secrets and often back the secret up with a threat if they tell, it is important to help children understand that we do NOT keep secrets. However, there are times when we all have surprises that we will reveal soon; birthday gifts is a good example. We can do many different things to help children be safe – James is just one tool we can use to help.

JESSICA’S STORY is a simple story to help children be safe from Child Sexual Abuse. The story helps a child better understand how to say NO to a person that might be approaching them for sexual activity. The story also helps a child understand who might be a person that is safe for them to go to and tell of their concerns related to a person that is approaching them with sexual behaviors. There is a video to support this booklet.
